FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Once fully charged, what is the range of the electric scooter? How far will it go?

How far you can travel depends on the type of riding style you have, aggressive riders do not go as far as sedate drivers. There are many factors involved in how much distance your electric bike will travel. Some of these factors are: weight of passengers, speed of travel, road surface conditions, condition & type of batteries.

On average Blue Sky Bikes will do between 60km and 70 km per charge using around 1.4 kw per charge or 9 to 13 peso worth of charge depending on your region.

The range is affected by the weight of rider, the type of terrain and the speed in which the scooter is driven. Under optimal conditions (25km/H rate speed), a range of 110 km has been recorded on one single charge.

Is riding an electric scooter a comfortable riding experience?

Riding an electric scooter is many times more comfortable than riding a gasoline motor scooter. The silence and smoothness of a direct drive electric-motor-powered scooter just doesn’t compare.  Quick accelerating---speed from 0 to 62km/H takes only 5 seconds (depending on the bike).

Do you have to warm-up the electric scooter before riding it?

As soon as you turn the ignition key, the scooter is ready to drive. There is absolutely no warm-up time needed. Just turn the key and you are ready to go. It cannot be any easier.

What about maintenance?

The E Motorbike is designed for minimum maintenance. Consider the fact that this scooter has no combustion engine, no transmission, no belts, no chains, no gasoline, no lubricants, no ignition plugs, no carburetor, etc. Modular designed components are practically maintenance free. The unique design of the direct drive system and the total absence of belts or chains make this scooter much easier to maintain than other electric scooters. Practically any scooter dealer can do most of the maintenance that may be required.

Scooters with brush motors need their brushes changed every 2 years.

Our brushless motors don't have such problems.

What about parts, is it a problem getting parts for the E-Motorbike?

Parts are not a problem.

The regular expendable Parts like tires, brake pads, bulbs, etc. can be found in any regular scooter store.

BlueSkyBikes maintain a large inventory of spares at 2 major warehouse facilities.

Your local BlueSkyBike dealer will carry a parts inventory large enough to fulfill any of your parts needs at any time.

Can the electric scooter be cleaned or washed with water without any concern?

Due to its Direct Current source and 48V / 36V system design, there is no danger when the scooter gets wet. The electric motors are water proof.

However, one should be careful not to pour water directly into the charger outlet, the controller and the internal battery set when washing or cleaning.

Do you need to wear a helmet to drive the electric scooter?

For safety reasons we always advise the use of a helmet. However, e-bike riders should be aware of the helmet laws in their region.

Is it easy to recharge the batteries?

Yes, it is very easy. Just insert the output plug into the inlet on the scooter, insert the input plug of the Battery Charger into any regular wall outlet of AC 220V and recharging will start. Charging the battery on a daily basis extends its life.

How long will the batteries last, what is the batteries life expectancy?

The battery's life will be reduced or damaged if an insufficient charge level is retained for a long period of time. Depending on the user's operation, the battery will last between 400 and 1000 cycles. Normally the batteries should last between two and three years if the user charges the scooter everyday.

How can I know the batteries condition and energy level?

The display panel includes a row of LED lights or color coded bars, which clearly indicate the power level of the batteries in you scooter.

  1. FULL: First green light or top green bar is on or showing as full.
  2. HALF FULL: Second green light is on or lower green bar is showing
  3. TEN PERCENT LEFT: Yellow light or Yellow bar is showing (At this level, charging is highly recommended).
  4. EMPTY: Red light is on (Immediate charging is necessary).

If one of the batteries has a problem, do I need to change all the four batteries?

Not necessarily. Simply ask your dealer to check the condition of all your batteries and only replace that battery which is no good.

Can a rider get burned while riding the electric scooter?

Riders will not get burned from riding the electric scooter. The scooter does not have an exhaust pipe like in gasoline scooters. It is impossible to get burned on this scooter. Nothing heats up.

What are the advantages of having an electric scooter?

  1. Ease of use -  No engine, transmission  or  oil maintenance reqired. Electric motor bikes/scooters can be recharged at home any time.

  2. Clean - It is environment friendly. Electric motor bike/scooter has no smoke no emissions and no gasoline smells.

  3. Silence - there is no engine and transmission noise.

  4. Economical - On a yearly basis of 1 charge a day it will cost only 3,285 Peso in recharging for a distance of 21,900 km where as a gasoline bike based on 1 litre a day will cost aprox 16,060 Peso at 16,470 km plus oil and servicing total 22,000+peso. So e-bikes are far more cheaper to run and maintain.

  5. They are just fun to ride. As soon as you ride an electric bike, you instantly start having fun. They are a dream to ride.

Who would benefit from owning an electric scooter?

Anyone who is commuting or riding distances of not more than 50 to 70 kilometers (approximately 30 to 45 miles), such as employees, housewives, students, guards, security personnel, office workers and people who work in places where parking facilities are very limited and expensive.

The 45km/h certificate scooter is ridden by a lot of 16-20 years old students and women. E-bike users are not affected by rising gasoline prices. Charging the electric motor bike at home costs next to nothing in comparison to filling up at the petrol station.

Why do you believe the motor in your products are superior?

It is Brushless motor. We emphasize "brushless" not just because this is the latest technology, but because these defluxable permanent magnet motors are supremely reliable! These more expensive motors produce high torque at low speeds, keeping an acceptable balance of torque and energy across the whole speed range. In addition to not wasting energy at idle, these motors offer the advantage of using the permanent magnet motor's energy recovery capability during deceleration (regenerative braking), so the batteries are recharging during deceleration. Often  many different types of electric vehicles (EV) on the market today still use sealed brush-type motors that are dependant upon brush life, build up brush dust (residue) due to wear over time which may affect maximum speed and electrical noise or become problematic in other ways. Because these brush-type motors are sealed, expensive motor replacement is sometimes the solution.

Our bikes do not have any of these problems or disadvantages.

What is the Manufacturer Warranty?

One Year or 10,000km warranty for all parts except expendables.  10,000kms or one year which ever comes first.
